History

The Edge Recording Studio was conceptualized by a core group of community residents that with a like minded vision.  The concept became a reality through much dedication and hard work of many local volunteers.  The Edge Recording Studio is strongly supported by the community, in particular the musicians, singers, songwriters, storytellers theatre groups and sound engineers.  Since its inception, the studio has pulled together many local artists and created an environment for their talents to flourish.

Through funding from Industry Canada, The Regional District of the Central Kootenay Area K, Columbia Basin Trust, BC Hydro and the Edgewood Community Club, The Edge Recording Studio was established in the year 2000 as part of the Community Access Program and one of two British Columbia Rural Community Champions


Vision

Our vision is to develop The Edge Recording Studio into a high quality community based organization providing recording and new media production services.  Our market includes our immediate community as well as the greater Kootenay and Okanagan regions.  With the addition of high-speed Internet we are now poised to enter into the
 E-business market.

Quinn DeCourcy

Promotional Demo

Quinn DeCourcy is a local Edgewood blues artist.  Quinn is an upcoming artist who is gaining recognition regionally as well as provincially.  Tracks from his CD have been aired on CBC Radio.

Out of the Woods Volume 1

The Kootenay region has been known for its hotbed of talent in musician, singer/songwriters.  This Edge recorded and produced this compilation, which features many of the local Inonoaklin Valley region musician singer and songwriters.

Buddhagrass Boys

Volume 3 - Original Bluegrass

Originating from the Cherryville and Slocan Valley areas, the Buddhagrass Boys are known for their bluegrass style ballads and are players on the provincial music scene.  Their ballads have been routinely aired on CBC Radio.  Impressed by The Edge Recording Studio, the Buddhagrass Boys are returning to record their 4th CD in June.  Why they are coming back?  They are impressed with The Edge Recording Studio’s production capabilities and staff.  “Large studios over produce, they don’t listen to what the musicians want, they don’t care as much”.  “The sound engineer has to be part of the band and The Edge Recording Studio has this.”
